As we get toward the season and series finale time of year, it’s going to be hard to hold off those series coming to an end in terms of social engagement on the web, and the middle week of March starts that trend with a bang as the finales of Empire and Glee occupy two of the top three spots in General Sentiment’s social TV engagement ranker.
Admittedly, Glee’s finale was a series finale, while Empire’s finale was simply a wrap-up to an undeniably break-out season for the FOX show, but it was the freshman drama that was able to top the network TV rankings for the week. Sandwiched in between the two was the premiere of Dancing with the Stars, which indicates a completely different trend to come — the summer reality cycle.
Regardless, drama continued its strong run in engagement, as only DWTS, The Voice and Survivor landed in the top 25 among reality programming. On cable, it was of course The Walking Dead to top the ranks, followed by Pretty Little Liars and Top Gear.
Elsewhere, a series premiere of iZombie continued CW’s run of success in the rankings, while programs like E!’s The Royals and CBS’s CSI: Cyber held surprisingly strong. Download the full report below!
